Honda CBR150R Repsol Motorcycle Review:
Honda CBR150R Repsol, comes in market in 2012. With a very wide and aggressive marketing attitude Honda dared to introduce this performance bike to the bikers of the subcontinent. Honda claims it to be an entry level sports bike which has the true racing sensation. Rest relies on the performance it provides.
The bike looks quite big. The 150 cc engine adds more flesh to the body. The headlight it holds is Y shaped one with twin pilot lights. With a black finishing around the lights it holds a sporty graphic toward the fuel tank resembled with CBR1000RR. The tail light remains non LED. 150R has got a unique exhaust along with alloy wheels which makes it both classy and sporty. The outlook gets sportier with the shorter wheelbase. It’s more compact than ever. The front tyre is providing 100/80-17 and the rear one gives 130/70-17, which are relatively smaller than its siblings. The number plate sits near the front mud guard where it collides in the shaky roads. The shades are having dual scheme and rendering a youthful gesture with confidence.
Unlike CBR150R, 150R doesn’t hold any silver touch around the console. 150R owns an analogue tachometer, without which everything is black. It can show numbers till 13000 RPM. The console provides the biker all the information he would need on the way. Time, odometer, trip-meter, engine temperature and speedometer remains with rider for a confident journey. The digital display holds a mode and reset button under it. The hazard and warning light remains with them in both the sides. The backlit is orange and gives more transparency to the rider.
The switch gears and foot pegs came straight from CB Stunner, could not give the riders much confidence. The engine kill switch doesn’t exist anywhere which provides a pretty bad riding to the rider. The headlight switch remains on the left side which is not so conventional creates an abnormal feelings among the bikers.
The engine that powers this monster is cooled by liquid, 149.4 cc, DOHC, 4 valves. The stroke is short to provide the best pattern of power. The PGM- FI fuel injection technology makes the ride smoother. This engine can roar with a maximum power output up to 17.6 BHP at the RPM of 10500. The torque it provides is 12.66Nm at the RPM of 8500. The torque will surely frustrate you a bit. But the power output and high RPM can cover that.
The weight it holds is only 138 kg. So, it gets a good power weight ratio indeed. The six speed transmission acts smoothly with sharpness. You have to gain a high speed for stabilizing ride and which is only possible in highways, rather than city roads. You can drive 35-40 km with one litter of fuel in the tank. It means, you get to travel 500 km with a full tank. As the riding and handling segment is so fantastic, one doesn’t have to worry about a frequent change of direction while riding it. Although the position of the handlebar isn’t sporty enough, but perfect indeed. You’ll get disc brakes both at the front and the rear side. The safe journey is ensured with challenging stopping capacity with CBR150R. Riding gets smoother and cooler here.
